Mayra Bedolla-Lopez

Mayra, was raised by a single parent. At the age of 10 years old she was placed in Orangewood Children’s Home along with her three siblings. It is at this time she recalls she developed an interest in helping others as she worked with a social worker and family therapist for reunification. She grew up attending a Christian church but never had a real relationship with Christ.

At the age of 19 she became a single parent after leaving an abusive relationship. It is at this time, Mayra turned to her faith with the desire of raising her son in church. Those seeds that were planted in childhood began to flourish. During this time, she began learning about the love of God, getting discipled and re-committed her life to Christ. Shortly, after she met her husband, got married and had their daughter. (but not as quickly as 1-2-3).

Despite the obstacles she faced, Mayra, completed her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University in 2013. Shortly after she began full-time work with children and families in the city and school district of Santa Ana, providing services primarily in Spanish. During 2020, she began working again with college students across the state providing online counseling. Towards the end of the year and start of the new year she felt led to leave the secular world and start:

New Beginnings Christian Counseling. A Christian private practice focused on integrating biblical truths and clinical tools. Focused on helping individuals overcome destructive thinking, defeat fear, and walk in the freedom God has for them.

Mayra along with her husband and children have been attending the same church for over 15 years and volunteer as service leaders for kids’ ministry.

Christian Counselor | Young Adults | Orange County

I share part of my story to encourage you. I can look at my life and know that God has always been with me and this is my testimony of his goodness. Despite the challenges I’ve been through, I have gotten through them by His strength and I want to tell you that you are not alone.

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;… Psalm 18:2 NKJV

As much as I would love to help everyone, I know that is not possible thus I share part of my story to help you get to know me and decide whether I am what you are looking for in a therapist. As we are all unique my approach is customized to my client’s needs, but my faith, education, personal and professional experiences guide my work.
